The Shining Synops10
    Jack Torrance, un écrivain un peu perdu, en panne d'inspiration, accepte l'emploi un peu particulier de gardien de l'hôtel Overlook, dans les montagnes du Colorado, vide et coupé du monde durant tout l'hiver, pour pouvoir écrire sereinement son nouveau roman. Accompagné de sa femme Wendy et de leur fils Danny, il va, petit à petit, perdre la raison sous l'influence de cet hôtel où de terribles évènements ont à jamais marqué les lieux...
    Le titre évoque le don de télépathie que possèdent Danny, le fils de Jack Torrance, et le cuisinier de l'hôtel. Ce dernier utilisait ce don pour « parler » pendant des heures avec sa grand-mère, et tous deux l'avaient appelé « the Shining »
